40 factoring perfect squares worksheet
Problem: (x^(4))+(9x^(2))+25 I have been trying to factor it using perfect square trinomials and either the sum/difference of 2 cubes, but I keep running in to a brick wall. My initial attempt took me to to break up (x^(4)) into (x^(2))*(x^(2)) so that statement looks like: (x^(2))(x^(2))+9(x^(2))+25: With 9 and 25 being perfect squares I then pulled x^(2) out so that the statement becomes: (x^(2))*(x+3)*(x-3)+25. At this point, I feel this is as far as it would go, but I know there should ... I don't understand how to factor this. (x+d)^2 then somehow the answer is x^2+2dx+d^2 This entire polynomial and quadratic thing makes zero sense to me but I can at least do it after watching multiple videos.

Factoring perfect squares worksheet
I'm doing the khan academy trying to learn calculus and I'm currently stuck in pre-algebra. Here is the problem: http://imgur.com/a/N0lEV Now basically I get to the part x^2 -7x+c = x^2 -2dx+d^2 The khan academy hint says, that by matching terms, c=d^2, now... I know how to solve this problem once I know that c=d^2 but how did the khan academy get that? EDIT: I've simplified it further. I'm looking at -7x+c=d(-2x+d), I still cant figure out how c=d^2 EDIT 2: and just for the heck of it, h... I just learned this on Khan Academy, and all of the problems they have me do feature perfect squares being subtracted from one another. However, if I switch over to Wolfram Alpha for more practice, a lot of problems they have me do sometimes contain zero perfect squares. Is Wolfram Alpha just giving me incorrect problems? Factoring perfect squares worksheet. Something like this I can do pretty easy: `a^2 - 4` That's just your classic: `(a + 2)(a - 2)` But this one trips me up: `4 - a^2` My instinct is to do this: `(2 - a)(2 + a)` And if I FOIL that it gets me back to the same place. So why does Wolfram Alpha say this is the alternative form: `-(a - 2)(a + 2)` And Microsoft Math Solver gives this: `(a - 2)(-a - 2)` Different again! I don't get the logic here. The rule for the WA version seems to be "Pretend the terms are the other way ro... I am really scared cuz I have a quiz tom and I don't really understand complete square. Can u guys pls explain it? I already know the basics of factoring but if u guys have tips on it pls tell me. Ty edit: should be x^4 - 4x^2 + 4 X^2 -9x = 0 Okay cool ill just add x^2 - 9x + (9/2)^2 = 0 x^2 - 9x + 81/4 = 81/4 Whats the point if 81/4 is just going to cancel each other out when I have to use zero factor??? Literally x(x-9) = 0, and then add 9 to the other side, x=9, and x=0. Those are my answers, what gives?? Why does it tell me to complete the square then give me a question that doesn't need to find "c" in order to get my answer.
Given: a. 4x²-20x=11 b. x²+7x+12=0 when factoring 16b^2 - 625c^4 I'm supposed to get (2b+5c)(2b-5c)(4b^2 -25c^2). I see how you factor out the parentheses starting out with 2b, but where does the one starting with 4b^2 come from? There are a series of questions that are very similar to: x^2 - a^2 - y^2 - 2ay. The other questions are very similar with different coefficients and variables. The instructions say to factor using perfect squares and difference of squares, however i'm struggling with these types of questions because I don't know where to start. I don't understand it at all the way my teacher is teaching me and I feel like if I ask her for help she'll either ignore me or just making it really embarrassing by acting like I shouldn't ask questions and am dumb if i do. I’m brushing up on some number sense for fun, and was making sure I remember how to do prime factorization. I recall a rule that you only need to check prime factors up to the square root of the number you’re factoring. I’ve always wondered why that was true; and it’s something I definitely want to learn more about at some point. But right now I’m confused because I came across an exception to the rule (unless of course I’m just doing something wrong). Take the number 948. Its square root is ~3... Justify your answer.
